Pet Friendly Properties

In 2009 the Dogs trust will be launching a campaign to promote ‘Lets with Pets’.

Michael Tuck Lettings, based in Gloucester & Cheltenham are very keen to promote available properties that will accept pets, as it can be quite a stressful time moving house and trying to find alternative accommodation for the family pet.

The common myth ‘All pets damage property’ is sadly a vast exaggeration on reality and it is often the case dogs can help protect a home from intruders and not cause damage to properties.

Responsible pet owners will often clean the property more often and providing dogs have regular exercise and access to a garden the home should not suffer the dreaded ‘pet smell’ that can be a associated when owning a dog.

Any tenant wishing to rent a property with a dog is now asked to complete a short questionnaire to help landlords decide whether they feel the property they are trying to rent out would be suitable for the type of dog hoping to move in.

Michael Tuck Lettings are hoping this campaign will also help promote better welfare for animals and encourage pet owners to think about how long the dog will be left alone whilst at work and also where they plan to exercise it.

To help protect landlords Michael Tuck Lettings ask tenants to pay a deposit before renting which is protected for both parties through ‘The Dispute Service’ and if any problems do arise and cannot be settled immediately an independent arbitrator will make a judgement based on the facts presented which does give extra protection for both landlords and tenants
