Pets Corner Success

Since launching ‘Pets Corner’ in 2008 as an integral part of the Michael Tuck Lettings full page advert in the Citizen there has been a significant increase from both tenants and landlords expressing their gratitude of highlighting the importance of keeping pets within the home.

It is sometimes very difficult for tenants to find a suitable property that will allow them to keep their cat or dog at home and many of these animals have either been given to a family member or put in an animal shelter ready for adoption.

Michael Tuck Lettings are pleased to announce they have developed a close working relationship with local firm ‘Animals at Home’ to help tenants look after their pet whilst out of the home for any reason.

Animals at Home is a national pet care company with an excellent reputation," says Ian Lazell, Lettings Director. "The Gloucestershire franchise was set up in 2006 by Jean Kendrick and Wendy Bolton to offer, for example, dog walking and pet visiting services for owners who cannot manage to be at home during the day; house-sitting whilst owners are away on holiday or business; and animal transportation should help be needed in taking a pet to the vets, kennels / catteries or airport – or simply with relocating, nationally or abroad.

Michael Tuck Lettings take the welfare of pets in their properties seriously and working closely with ‘Animals at Home’ landlords can take comfort that any tenants living in their property with a pet have access to a caring professional company if required.

The Michael Tuck-Animals at Home partnership is welcomed by Clarissa Baldwin, Chief Executive of canine welfare organisation, The Dogs Trust. It fits well with a new Trust campaign – particularly as the availability of AAH offers vital support for pet owners.“Pet owners who need to rent privately are being forced to live in unsuitable properties, or rent with their pets without consent from their landlord," said Clarissa. "Even though a dog is for life, in some extreme cases owners are having to give up their beloved pets or else face becoming homeless. It’s a heartbreaking situation so we are consulting with professional housing bodies and letting agents to develop Lets with Dogs, a UK-wide campaign encouraging landlords to accept pet-owning tenants and help owners find the elusive pet-accepting landlord."

Animals at home can also offer advice for ‘new’ pet owners and how to make a property more pet friendly to avoid accidental damage to the landlord’s garden or home.
